N.I.P. has leapt into the South African music scene with 'No More', one of the most powerful, commercial ballads ever. Giving a listen to their My Space tracks, i realised that how was a band with great potential and immediately offered to work with them. Getting to #1 on KovsieFM, #3 on MFM and #6 on SAMP3.com proved I was right and I look forward to the release of their debut cd, Full of Myself. I chat to Shawn, their lead singer:

Q: How was N.I.P. born and what inspires the band? A: Ahh, N.I.P was born of a dream Karel and I shared since we were very small. Our inspiration is the desire to entertain people and it's a pleasure that they get to hear us. Q: Did you expect 'No More' to be received so well by the campus stations? A: I really hoped it would. The song means a lot to me. I'm glad it did! Q: One of the beauties of Full of Myself is that it's sung in English and Afrikaans. What was your goal with doing this? A: I don't think we really had a goal. It was more a case of some songs sounding better in Afrikaans and some better in English. Q: The South African industry is extremely small so N.I.P. like most local outfits, isn't full time. What are the day jobs of each band member? A: I knew this South African question was coming. I'm a motor technician, Karel is an undertaker, Jaak works at a music shop and Ettiene still studies. Q: Which artists/bands have inspired you the most and why? A: Pearl Jam, Metallica... They went through lot of trouble within the band and still came out fighting! SA bands need to look at that and not give up that easily. Q: Which South African bands have done the most to highlight South Africa's talent? A: Nude Girls, Fokofpoliesiekar, Just Jinger...there are so many to mention... Q: If you could choose one international band and one local band as your support acts at a concert, who would they be? A: Just Jinger and Pearl Jam (or HIM). Q: What's next for N.I.P.? A: We are busy working on new songs for a new album. We don't stand still!
