Dedicated African website for Turner Classics
by Press Release
14 July 2010

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) have officially launched an African website - www.tcmafrica.com which will give lovers of the classics greater access to the channel through competitions, programming guides and fantastic galleries of images from the movies featured every month

“This year TCM celebrates its 10th anniversary and in honour of this milestone, TCM is revamping the classics.  The launch of the TCM Africa website is core to this renewal of the channel and we hope to gain greater interaction with our existing audiences and introduce the channel to new viewers,” said Alan Musa, VP and GM, Middle East, Africa and Pan Region for Turner Broadcasting Systems at the official launch in Johannesburg.

The new website echoes the cool and classically beautiful tones of the movies it features on the channel and showcases all the latest news, features, and images available from TCM. The site is easy to browse and navigate and makes the TCM experience more immediate and compelling to the channel’s viewers.

Always recognised as the channel for quality movies from the heyday of cinema, TCM is seeking out and broadcasting many of the modern day classics. This year viewers will be treated to movies such as 'Boys in the Hood', 'Practical Magic', 'Snatch', 'Black Hawk Down' and 'Almost Famous'.  These exciting recent classics from Hollywood’s brightest stars are to be accompanied with documentaries that bring viewers closer to the people both in front and behind the camera.

“The TCM Classic is chosen and defined by how it moves our audiences.  Great movies have great actors, great soundtracks, great scripts and live in our memories as golden moments, sometimes life changing moments.  The dedicated TCM Africa website will give African lovers of the classics better access to these golden moments and create new love affairs with larger than life cinema,” he concluded.
